All along the vast stretch of coastal land from Wareham to Fall River, culinary delights representing virtually every imaginable world cuisine are available for the adventurers among us – locals and tourists alike.
Of the 900+ restaurants in operation in the region (yes there are that many!) most of us probably have tried only a dozen, and frequent only a few.
Well this June, consider South Coast Restaurant Week your invitation to get out of your comfort zone (even if you only like comfort food) and try a new restaurant, visit a new neighborhood or town or try a different style of cuisine with relatively no risk.
Mark your calendars!
A kick off Gala event is scheduled for June 14th, and Restaurant Week is slated for June 15-24th. Proceeds benefit the United Way’s Hunger Commission of Southeastern Massachusetts.
The food won’t be free during South Coast Restaurant Week, but patrons will sure be able to get a good deal. Restaurants that sign on will receive the benefit of potential new clients, and foodies-to-be will have the opportunity to try multi-course meals for a set price: $12.12 for lunch or $20.12 and $30.12 for dinner (depending upon the venue).
Todd Philie, Independent Consultant for Spectrum Marketing, moved back to the South Coast after stints in New Jersey and Worcester, where he established several successful Restaurant Weeks in similar-sized cities and towns as those found along the South Coast. When he returned here, he was amazed at the quality of the restaurants that had sprung up in, for example, downtown New Bedford, and he assembled a feasibility group to see if the top restauranteurs in the area were willing to give South Coast Restaurant Week a try.
They were. Though this reporter cannot disclose which restaurants are on board at the moment, Philie hopes to feature at least 50 participating establishments.
South Coast Restaurant Week is a perfect excuse to take a new culinary path and discover your own hidden gem in the South Coast restaurant scene. Visitors who dine out during Restaurant Week will receive a 15% off coupon for a subsequent visit.
And tell us about your experience!
After you’ve had a chance to try a new trendy hot-spot or indulge in a venue that’s normally out of your price range, please drop us a line at the South Coast Insider; we’ll be awaiting your feedback!
