Bay Adventure to Carter Beal Conservation Area in Bourndale Friday April 27, 2012
Join Brendan Annett of Buzzards Bay Coalition and Abigail Franklin of the Cape Cod Water Resources Restoration Project for a walk along the Herring River. Come explore this rough and rocky corner of the Buzzards Bay watershed where the headwaters of the Monument River (which was excavated to create the Cape Cod Canal) flows out of Plymouth through a narrow valley in the Bournedale Hills. We will walk the pleasant trails on these protected lands and talk about the interesting geology and history of this unique area. We will look for signs of spring including migrating river herring. Abby and Brendan will discuss the status of these important fish, factors affecting their decline and opportunities for restoration in the Bay watershed.
