A local consortium of women’s organizations (UMASS Dartmouth Women’s and Gender Studies Program – the sponsor of the film, The Women’s Fund, The Women’s Center, the YWCA Southeastern Massachusetts, UMASS Dartmouth’s Center for Women, Gender & Sexuality, and AHA!) have convened and galvanized forces to allow the film to be shown for free, open to the public on March 8th at 6 p.m. at the Whaling Museum theatre in New Bedford, during AHA! night. A reception will follow for International Women's Day.Although the film begins with a sobering message and tone, the second half of the movie is dedicated to finding solutions to the “misrepresentation” of women in the media. For example, interviews with Condoleeza Rice, Katie Couric, Nancy Pelosi and Gloria Steinem round out the degrading images that proliferate the screen.
