SORTING IT OUT
ecoRI wants to help you “Slim Your Waste” in 2012 (and beyond!). Learn about Rhode Island's new single stream recycling program.
The transition from a dual stream (with one bin for paper, one for bottles and cans) to a single stream process has begun. What does this mean for you?
Convenience. And fewer bins, with recyclable paper, bottles and cans to be collected in one container.
The magic happens at the Rhode Island Resource Recovery Center, where paper and containers will soon be separated, baled and transported to plants for re-manufacturing worldwide.
Little Rhody has one of the biggest materials recycling facilities in New England, processing about 50 tons of the stuff each hour! An increase in statewide recycling is within reach…just by doing less. Hey, we’ll take it.
Get in the know by coming to visit ecoRI’s Green Team Manager Kevin Proft here at the Essex Library. This free presentation on single stream recycling is made possible by a grant from The Rhode Island Foundation and sponsorship from Waste Management and Save The Bay.
